Of course the star attraction is the
Atlantic Ocean, luring people who enjoy the sun, surf, and sand
from far and wide. Averaging 68 degrees or more, the water is
warm enough to swim May thru October. But whether it’s swimming,
surfing, fishing, walking, or just plain sunning, nothing beats
a day at the shore.
The creeks, rivers, and sound make for
wonderful boating, sailing, jet skiing, kayaking, water skiing,
and crabbing. And don’t forget the world-class fishing. The area
is home to many fishing tournaments and not far off shore lie
many shipwrecks that are part of the “Ghost Fleet Of The Outer
Banks”, over 500 known wrecks of ill fated ships lost in wars,
to pirates, and other mishaps. Fishermen and divers alike are
drawn to these fish attracters. There are a number of fishing
piers in the area and there are outstanding guides and charter
boats available at many locations.
Golfers can play a number of very nice
courses that are open to the public. Greens fees are reasonable.
Keep your head down!
And you shoppers simply won’t run out
of interesting places to check out.
Fresh local seafood straight from the docks is available at most
all of the areas many restaurants. From quiet intimate dining
to the popular “mile long” buffets, there is something for everyone.
What a way to end the day. Hmmm good!
